Education

I will focus on improving public education in our state by working to improve our school funding formula, expand access to early childhood learning opportunities (pre-school-K), and focus on making college more affordable for Ohio students. Expanding access to and making college more affordable to Ohio students is a top priority of mine. For far too long, Ohio's number one export was 18-24 year olds and college graduates looking for more opportunities in other places around the country. I will work for Ohio to retain these young talented people by improving the internship programs within Ohio colleges and professional opportunities after graduation.

Economy

To improve Ohio's economy we need to focus on not just retaining the jobs of today but also bring in the jobs of the future to the state, most notably jobs in the new alternative energy field. Ohio has the resources and the ingenuity to become a leader in this field. This in turn will help grow our economy and bring high paying jobs to Ohio. I will also work with Governor Strickland to promote and implement his economic stimulus package that will invest in turning our state's economy around and make us more competitive for economic growth of the future.

Healthcare

I believe that every Ohioan should have access to high quality, affordable health care. One of my priorities will focus on working with Governor Strickland in expanding affordable access to health care for Ohioans who are uninsured and under insured and I will work to bring the soaring costs of health insurance premiums under control.
